The municipality of Hausjärvi is part of Häme district in southern Finland. It belongs to the Riihimäki - Hyvinkää economic area and is one of the four municipalities located "Particularly Centrally in Southern Finland".
Over eight thousand inhabitants live within the municipality boundaries. Large and smaller industrial enterprises and services together with farming form the economically multi-faceted enterprise environment of Hausjärvi.
Healthcare, educational and social services are provided for either by the municipal administration, by joint co-operative ventures with neighbouring municipalities or by private companies. Community spirit is reflected by the events organised by village action groups or by other voluntary organisations. They arrange a variety of events ranging from summer markets to an annual rowing event on Lake Mommila.
