The Committee's leading principle is to be responsible for arranging leisure activities for Hausjärvi inhabitants and encouraging them to embark  on activities of their own volition.

The Leisure and recreation committee is responsible for administering library services, youth work, culture, museum, sports, the Community College and other activities

Key responsibilities are

  • Ensuring that special emphasis is placed on taking into account needs of youth in all activities.

Community College

Organises short and long courses in varied skills and subjects during school year. Everyone can attend these courses.  Details of courses are available form the College offices.

Sports and activities

The Sports and activities committee's aims are; to organise and develop events and activities within the Municipality, offer various opportunities for exercise and support other organisations organising similar activities. The Main emphasis is in ensuring activities for children and youth, special needs groups and adults whose hobbies concentrate around exercise.

Youth affairs office

The Youth affairs office aims to organise and develope the municipality's youth work and offer facilities and varied opportunities for hobbies.  It also supports other organisations in the field of youth work.  Activities are principally aimed at age groups 12-17. The Sports and recreation secretary is in charge of day- to day- administration and organisation.

Activities are centred on open evenings for youth in villages.  Different organisations and volunteers participate in organising and overseeing such evenings.  Youth work also supports disco evenings and participates in various working parties dealing with youth affairs. 

Facilities

  • Paavola Youth House is a place where different organisations use facilities for meetings and as their offices, free of charge.
     
  • Valkjärvi
    The Youth affairs office is responsible for letting Valkjärvi campsite and its facilities for organisations for recreational purposes.
